PLPC, Clinical Staff
I believe that everything we are is a result of the relationships we’ve experienced, and that while some may hurt us, they can also heal. In our sessions I will gently support and encourage as you begin to unravel the pains and triumphs that have brought you here to this moment. Choosing to face our fears, big emotions, and missteps can be overwhelming alone, but empowering in the right space. I hope to provide you with a welcoming environment where you can begin to look at some of the more difficult aspects of life and find your own source of empowerment to move forward in life.
I will use a mixture of systems theory, CBT, IFS, and mindfulness; but most importantly the work we do is collaborative with you leading the way.
When working with couples I follow Emotion Focused Couples Therapy and research by Dr. John Gottman. I love working with couples because I feel that often when we run into relationship issues with our partners, it is an issue of seeing each other fully and meeting needs, rather than a lack of love or potential. With each couple I work to understand you each as individuals and the cycles that you get into as a couple. Together we will unpack the unhealthy cycles that are causing you both pain or discomfort and work to replace them with healthier behaviors. I truly believe that most relationship issues can be solved with better emotional attunement to yourself and partner, improved communication, and mutually agreed upon boundaries and rules. If your relationship is feeling stuck or lost, I would love to support you as you work to reconnect to the excitement and love you shared.
